The inaugural ‘Tenor Horn Spotlight’, as part of the 2014 Black Dyke Brass Arts Festival, is now closed for applicants after all 40 places that were available have been filled.
Great success
Black Dyke solo horn player Jonathan Bates told 4BR: “With an age range from 12 to 80, and delegates travelling from as far as Cornwall and Newcastle, the inaugural ‘spotlight’ on Sunday 23rd March at Leeds Town Hall is sure to be a great success.”
With such resurgence in tenor horn playing at the moment Jonathan is delighted with the response.
Positive take up
He added: "It’s been a hugely positive take-up to the event. To have over 40 tenor horns performing a massed feature with Black Dyke will be spectacular, although sadly there won't be enough room for any more numbers. Perhaps next year we will have to get an even bigger stage!"

Hat trick performance
Following a morning of workshops and short recitals, the delegates will perform the popular horn feature 'Hat trick' by the late Dr Roy Newsome, as part of the main gala concert with Black Dyke later in the day.
