The Rainford Band held their first ever Slow Melody Contest on the weekend, and was delighted by the response and interest it created, with over 50 entrants taking to the stage to perform.
Five sections
The contest was split up into five sections of performers who gave adjudicator David Thornton plenty of high quality music making to ponder and decide upon — from the performances of the fledgling talent in the under 12’s to the cracking quartets.
Feedback
A spokesperson told 4BR: "David kindly agreed to adjudicate the whole event for us and the remarks and feedback given will prove to be invaluable for all contestants.
David’s positivity and encouraging and constructive words are sure to have inspired and coached all of those who entered."
Next year
They added: "The contest is already booked in for next year on Sunday 15th February, and we hope to see an even higher entry level, especially in the Ensemble Sections. We would like to take the opportunity to thank all competitors and congratulate them all on a variety of excellent performances."
