Stars from outside the brass band movement have now backed the forthcoming world record attempt by the Huddersfield Marathon Band.

The band are fund raising campaign for the charity Sense, by asking supporters to be photographed wearing the official orange bobble hat — costing them just a minimum one pound for the privilege.
With the likes of 4BR Editor Iwan Fox, David Childs, Howard Snell, Philip Harper and Ian Porthouse already snapped by Goldy Solutions Ian Clowes in aid of the great cause, the band has received a fantastic boost with the news that they have now gained support from Captain Jean Luc Picard himself of the Starship Enterprise — actor Sir Patrick Stewart

Thrilled
Band spokesperson Mike Lomas, told 4BR that the buzz they've received from seeing the actor donning what is becoming a very distinguished piece of headwear has boosted their ongoing training regime. .
"We are absolutely thrilled that Sir Patrick is backing our campaign and we thank him for his support via twitter and hope he won't be the last well known celebrity who supports our campaign."
Mike added that the support is growing by the day and thanked everybody for their encouragement with just two months to go before the step up to the starting line.

The band are hoping to snatch back the record from the current German holders by completing the 26 miles 385 yards marathon course under the current mark of 7 hours 22 minutes and 55 seconds — whilst playing music.
