The National Association of Brass Band Conductors will be hosting a free pre-Area test piece run out in partnership with the Whitworth Vale & Healey Band.
All five
Five Winter Garden contenders will perform their set works on Sunday 2nd March at The Riverside in Whitworth — starting at 2.30pm with a performance by Wardle Anderson Brass under the baton of Steve Walsh of the top section work, ‘St Magnus’.
Stacksteads Band under Fred Bowker will follow with ‘Three Spanish Impressions’, with Littleborough Band, directed by Adrian Woodhead) playing ‘Postcards from Home’.
Besses Boys conducted by James Holt will showcase, ‘Chaucer’s Tunes’, before Whitworth Vale & Healey under John Binns will round off the afternoon with ‘Cry of the Mountain’.
Warm up and critique
All the bands will play a warm up piece followed by the test piece, with independent critiques on the performances given by NABBA Chairman and respected adjudicator Andrew White.
