The popular Wychavon Festival of Brass has announced it will be held on a new date linked with an exciting partnership agreement with the British Open Championship.
New date
The 2014 contest will take place on Saturday 1st November, enabling the event to attract even more bands to the excellent Evesham High School venue, whilst the winning band in the Championship Section will be invited to compete at 2015 Senior Trophy contest at the Spring Festival in Blackpool.
If the winning band (Aveley & Newham above in 2013) is already qualified for the event, the place will be offered to the next highest placed band.
Website
Meanwhile, the Wychavon Festival of Brass website: www.festivalofbrass.co.uk is now up and running enabling bands to download entry forms and see the contest rules and prize details.
Delighted
Understandably, the Festival organisers are delighted to be able to make both announcements, telling 4BR: "We are grateful to everyone who contacted us over the proposals for a new date for the 2014 event — and are delighted that we are now able ink the contest into the calendar.
We are especially grateful to Frank Hodges for his approach to the Festival organisers."
Super facilities
They added: "Evesham High School offers super facilities and the gives us the opportunity to run all the contests under the one roof in three excellent halls all on the one day.
It has been a decision which will enable us to substantially reduce the cost base and that we believe will see the contest continue to flourish."
