Hatherleigh Silver Band has announced the appointment of Tom Griffin BMus (hons), a professional musician with the Band of HM Royal Marines, as their new Musical Director.

Chairman Robert Barkwell told 4BR: "We are very happy with the appointment and so pleased to have him on board. The future of the band now looks very positive and we are all hoping for a long and successful working relationship together."

He added: "All military musicians are renowned for their versatility, discipline, and commitment to excellence, and with Tom’s huge enthusiasm and extensive musical experience this makes him perfectly suited to take on the MD’s role."

Tribute

The band also paid tribute to former MD Robin Wonnacott. "Robin has stood down as MD after many years loyal service to the band," Robert added. "He has now taken his place back in the bass section – a seat he now calls home!"
