Burry Port add new quartet

Welsh League champions add to their player strength with new quartet.

Burry Port

Welsh League champions Burry Port Town has welcomed a quartet of new players to their ranks as they prepare for the start of the 2014 season.

Build

The band hope to build on their 2013 successes, which also included qualification to the Grand Shield, by welcoming the return of Christopher Jenkins on principal cornet, Nils Richards on solo trombone alongside Andrew Grimwood and Christian Jenkins on second baritone.

Chris Jenkins returns after a period with Ammanford Band with Nils joining after enjoying spells at Gwaun-Cae-Gurwen and Lewis Merthyr. Andrew joins after moving to the area with work, with Christian completing the euphonium and baritone section.

Dedicated musicians

Band Chairman, Graham Howe told 4BR: "We are delighted to welcome all four players to the band.

They are all dedicated musicians and strengthening the lower end of the band is great news, whilst seeing Chris coming back as principal cornet is a real boost ahead of the new contest season."

Experience

Graham added: "We are also very pleased that Andrew Grimwood is putting his 20 years and more of professional musician experience to good use by getting involved in our Youth Band, alongside Jayne Thomas and other members of the Senior Band."
