It has been confirmed to 4BR that the third annual Beaumont Park March & Hymn Tune Contest will take place later this year on Sunday 7th September.
Increase in prize money
After a successful contest in 2013 the Friends of Beaumont Park Committee are delighted that they are once again hosting the popular event.
The contest, which is open to all bands will take place in the historic bandstand starting at 2.00pm.
The committee have this year increased the prize money to include a hymn tune prize, with podium prizes of £400, £200 and £100.
The best 3rd/4th Section band not in the main prizes will take home £100, with £75 to the best Youth/Junior Band and the two best performances of the hymn tune gaining £100 and £50 respectively. There is a deportment prize of £75.
March and hymn tune
Bands will play a short march/piece where they will be judged on deportment, then play 3 verses of a chosen hymn tune and a contest march in the bandstand.
There is an entry fee of £20 and all cheques made payable to FOBP (Friends of Beaumont Park), The Depot, Beaumont Park, Huddersfield, HD4 7AY

The contest will be pre-drawn nearer the date giving each band an approximate playing time.
