The Skelmanthorpe Band has announced that Martin Hall has accepted the role as their new Musical Director.
Preston and Bradford
His initial appointment is to lead the Championship Section band at the forthcoming Brass at the Guild Contest in Preston and the Yorkshire Regional Championship in Bradford on ‘St Magnus’.
Martin, who is a member of the National Association of Brass Band Conductors, studied cornet under James Shepherd and has played principal cornet for Wakefield Metropolitan, Knottingley and Drighlington as well as tutti cornet for Black Dyke.
National win
In 2010, he took up the position of MD with South Milford Brass, leading them to victories at the North of England Regional Championship, culminating in winning the Second Section National Finals in 2012.

A Skelmanthorpe spokesperson told 4BR: "Martin is a very ambitious conductor, and this is a great opportunity for both parties. All of the players are looking forward to working with Martin as we welcome him into the Skelmanthorpe Band community."
Meanwhile, Martin added: "I’m looking forward to developing a long and successful relationship with Skelmanthorpe."
