Greater Gwent announce new course of action

The Greater Gwent Youth Band will meeting up in the New Year under the baton of Chris Turner to keep working towards the future.

Gwent Music Services

Despite the announcement of changes to Gwent Music Support Service following substantial efficiency savings in recent local authority budgets, it has still been announced that the Greater Gwent Youth Band will hold its annual course from 2nd to the 5th January.

Successful

The announcement means that one of the oldest and most successful youth organisations in the country will once again maintain its commitment to young performers in the South Wales area.

The 55 talented players will enjoy themselves at Bassaleg School from 9.30am to 3.30pm daily with an end of course concert held in the school hall (Griffin Hall) on Sunday 5th January commencing at 3.30pm.

Turner lead

The band will be conducted this year by the respected former Cory cornet star Chris Turner, who has worked with the Greater Gwent Music Services for a number of years, whilst the guest soloist will be former alumni Owen Farr.
