Following on from its contest success and Belgian tour earlier in the year, Cranbrook Town Band’s recent annual concert in aid of ‘Children in Need’ was deemed a roaring success with over £1000 being donated to the charity.
Film music
Opening to a packed, blacked out hall with an arrangement of the 20th Century Fox fanfare, complete with searchlights, the band performed a programme of film music themes – from ‘Star Wars’ and ‘Misison Impossible’ to ‘The Lion King’ and ‘Meet the Flintstones’.
Darth Vadar
MD Ian Lanceley was certainly suitably attired for his ‘Star Wars’ appearance – taking to the stage in a Darth Vader costume and conducting with a light sabre!
The remainder of the programme which was lapped up by the enthusiastic audience, featured five of the band’s soloists with performances that included ‘Children of Sanchez’ and ‘The Way We Were’.

Assistance
The band was ably assisted by the pupils from Hawkhurst Primary School who performed a series of Disney themes during their part of the concert.
