Strata Brass has announced a number of new signings ahead of the 2014 contesting season in the First Section.

Strata Brass has announced a number of new signings as they look towards their promotion to the First Section in 2014.

Signings

Liz Hatch (euphonium) and Graham Pell (cornet) join from Old Silkstone, with Alex Kennedy (Bb Bass) and Eden Warburton (horn) coming in from Dinnington Colliery. Russell Cavanagh (repiano) makes the move from Deepcar with Dave Fretwell on percussion.

Ian Woffinden (bass trombone) joins the band from Markham Colliery.

Band Secretary Paul Wilkinson told 4BR: "These players bring a mix of higher grade banding experience and promising young talent to us in preparation for our promotion to the First Section in 2014.

It’s the first time in the band’s history that we have competed at this level."

Four out of six

The band hopes to announce another signing shortly after enjoying a successful 2013 where they won four out of the six competitions they entered.
