Wardle Academy Youth Band has just returned home after performing at the Royal Albert Hall as part of Music for Youth’s School’s Proms 2013.
Old 100th
The band performed in the MfY National Festival in July and, after a fantastic performance, was invited to perform at the London event.
Conducted by Lee Rigg, the band opened the Prom with ‘Old 100th’ by Vaughan Williams before performing ‘Toccata’ from ‘Suite Gothique’ by Léon Boëllmann.
Members of the band were also lucky enough to be interviewed by Classic FM.

Fourth time
Spokesperson Janet Emsley told 4BR: "This is the fourth time since 2000 that a band from our school has performed at the Albert Hall.
They gave a fabulous performance which was well-received by the capacity audience, and it was a fantastic experience for the young people who were, as always, brilliant ambassadors for Rochdale."
