Garasi set for Battle

American conductor Michael J Garasi is set to lead Brass Band of Battle Creek.

Michael J Garasi

American conductor and composer Michael J Garasi has been busy developing new strands to his multi faceted array of musical talents.

Latest venture

A new website is the latest venture for the conductor who made such a huge impression on the banding public in the UK on his visits with Brass Band of Central Florida and Grimethorpe Colliery in recent times.

Now based in Houston in Texas with his wife Cherry, his busy freelance career has seen him work all over the USA in recent months — from Florida to New York with renowned ensembles such as the Campanile Orchestra and Florida Lakes Symphony Orchestra as well as conducting at the Meritas Music Festival.

Premier

Now he is set to lead Brass Band of Battle Creek in two concerts during the first week of December, premiering a collection of new and existing works.

"I’m really looking forward to the experience," he told 4BR.

"It’s great to get back to conducting a brass band again — and what a brass band Battle Creek is!

He added: "I am always keeping an eye out to what is happening over the other side of the Atlantic Ocean too, so I would love to be able to renew old musical friendships and start new ones in the future in the UK and Europe if the opportunity arises."
