No more Garlick on the Boarshurst musical menu

Increasing work and family commitments means that James Garlick has had to step down from his playing roleat Boarshurst Band after two successful years.

Boarshurst

It has been announced this week by Boarshurst Band that their respected solo euphonium player, James Garlick, has had to resign his position due to the pressures of work and increased family commitments.

Huge amount

Speaking to 4BR, Musical Director, David W Ashworth, said: "James brought with him a huge amount of experience from his many years playing with Brighouse & Rastrick, Grimethorpe and the Halle Orchestra.

He has been a huge asset to us for the past two years and has assisted in promoting a great deal of confidence within the band. We wish him all the best for the future in all his endeavours."

Miners double

James joined the band in 2011 prior to the Cheltenham Finals and helped Boarshurst to the ‘Double’ in winning the Butlins Mineworkers Third Section Championship in 2012 & 2013.

James will be playing his final concert with the band on Remembrance Sunday at Boarshurst Band Club this weekend.
