New direction signs on M2 and M5

Two young conductors will take charge of directing the musical traffic at the City of Cardiff M2 & M5 bands.

City of Cardiff

City of Cardiff (Melingriffith) Band has announced the recruitment of two new conductors to their organisation.

Talented brace

A brace of talented young musicians in the shape of Robin Hackett and Jake Pritchard will take the batons at their M2 and newly formed M5 community bands.

Robin has recently been working successfully with Newport Borough Band, whilst Jake has been instrumental in helping rejuvenate Cwmbran Brass.

Guide

M2 recently won the Third Section title at the Welsh League contest in Burry Port to add to their trophy haul this contesting season, and Robin now comes just in time to guide them in their preparations for next year.

He told 4BR: "I’m looking forward to the challenge of working with the band and building on the hard work and success of the previous conductors Dewi Griffiths and Gareth Ritter."

Community

The M5 community band was only launched last week with the first rehearsal attended by 21 new players. Jake will now prepare the band for their inaugural concert in a couple of months.

He told 4BR: "I’m really excited to be involved with the City of Cardiff organisation and making great music with such enthusiastic players with the new M5 community band."

Robin and Jake are two of the brightest young conductors around. With Carol Flanary-Davies taking M3 and Gareth Jones M4, we have a dream team of energetic conductors to take this organisation forwardGareth Ritter

Delight

M1’s MD Gareth Ritter also expressed his delight at the appointments, when adding: "Robin and Jake are two of the brightest young conductors around. With Carol Flanary-Davies taking M3 and Gareth Jones M4, we have a dream team of energetic conductors to take this organisation forward."
