The Swedish Brass Band Championships will take place in Värnamo on the weekend of 8th/9th November, in a festival event which will be headlined by the guest gala concert appearance of Australian musical sensation James Morrison.
Journey into Freedom
The Elite bands hoping to gain qualification to the 2014 European Championships in Perth will have to tackle the twin disciplines of the classic set work, ‘Journey into Freedom’ by Eric Ball on the Friday evening, followed the next day by their own choice selection.
The First and Second Section Championships which take place on Saturday morning also feature music by Eric Ball, with his ‘Four Preludes’ and ‘Devon Fantasy.’
MiniBrass
The innovative MiniBrass event which encourages youth development and participation will see 10 youth ensembles provide the entertainment ahead of Friday’s Elite set work section.
James Morrison’s appearance is sure to provide a wonderful centrepiece to the Saturday evening Gala Concert, where he will be joined by the Windcorp Band under the direction of Phillip McCann.
