Jaguar Land Rover MD Dave Lea recently spent a busy weekend continuing his work in helping develop brass banding in Germany.
Just a day after leading his own band at the Royal Albert Hall, he made the trip to visit Brass Band Regensburg in Stadthalle Neutraubling, as they prepared for a high profile concert in front of over 550 people.
Helping
Dave has been helping in the ongoing development of the band since 2012, and has seen them grow in confidence and performance levels ever since.
His next project will be helping them in their preparation for an important concert in November and the Deutsche Brass Band Meisterschaft in Bad Kissingen next year.
Classy
The band opened their programme with a classy rendition of ‘Glory Fanfare’, written in 2010 for the Austrian Youth Brass band by Otto Schwarz, under the direction of newly appointed MD Christine Hartmann.
Christine is a very experienced trumpet and cornet teacher, having studied in Sweden and is currently principal cornet with the 3BA Concert Band, Germany’s premier Championship Section band.
The programme also included Philip Sparke’s ‘Tallis Variations’ conducted by Dave Lea, as well as the relaxing, ‘Irish Tune from County Derry’ and the test piece, ‘Music for a Festival’.

Entertainment
The second half of the concert focused on entertainment with Paul Lovatt-Cooper`s ‘When Thunder Calls’, ‘A Brand New Day’, ‘Jurassic Park’, ‘Out of Africa’, ‘All Night Long’ and ‘Gonna Fly Now’ before the vocal and instrumental finale of ‘Circle of Life’ and the encore of ‘The Muppet Show’.
Spokesperson Thomas Nolden told 4BR: "The performances received thunderous and prolonged applause from the enthusiastic audience, and the band was thrilled to receive such a response.
We were delighted to be able to work with Dave and we look forward to joining up with him again in the near future."
