Unite the Union (City of Sheffield) Brass Band has announced that they have parted company with Musical Director Derek Renshaw

A spokesperson told 4BR: "Derek has had a very long association with the band, both as a player and conductor, which has made the decision particularly difficult."

Under his direction since 2011, the band won the First Section Yorkshire Area title followed by the National title in 2012, as well as gaining promotion to the Championship Section and from the Senior Trophy to the Grand Shield.

Sought after

The spokesperson added: "Derek is a highly sought after and talented conductor and musician, and also a genuinely nice man.

The band wishes him every success, and knows that his talents will be in great demand."
