There are a few bits and pieces to put in the contest memory bank for this weekend for the competing bands.

Bar 9: (Figure 1) Baritones 1 & 2 – add p

Bar 28: Flugel Horn, Solo Horn & Euphonium – add poco marc.

Bar 30: Upper 3rd Cornet part – add flat to A

Bar 74: E flat Basses – 4th triplet quaver should be C sharp

Bar 82: Horns 1 & 2 and Bb Bass should be marked cresc. as other parts

Eb Bass 2 should be marked cresc. on 1st beat
Bass Trombone should be marked mf cresc. on 4th beat

Bar 110: Solo Cornet (lower div): — add dim hairpin (as in upper part) then p to both parts at figure 10

Bar 240: Baritone 2 – delete ‘st. mute – change dynamics to pp

Bar 243-244: Baritone 2 – delete all dynamics (i.e. it stays pp throughout this passage)

Bar 242-244: Horns 1 & 2 – delete all dynamics (i.e. they stay pp throughout this passage)

Bar 243 Basses: delete dim and p in first half of bar (keep dim and pp after that

Bar 246: Baritone 2 – delete ‘mute out’

Bar 280: Horn 1 – should be marked mp poco marc.

Bar 310: Lowest Solo Cornet, 4th beat should be B double flat

Bar 347: Soprano Cornet – passage should be a tone higher

Bar 362: Baritone 2 – erroneous staccato on 3rd beat

Bar 381: (Figure 32) Bass Trom. should have ‘Cs’ tied to a C minim in next bar.

Bar 391: (Figure 33) Confirmation! All lower instruments are marked dim to f but some are kept at f. This is to maintain balance and is correct in the score.

Tintwistle Band

June 9 • Tintwistle Band are looking for a 2nd horn player to help complete the team. . We rehearse Monday and Thursday 8-10pm under the baton of our MD Jim Henson, at our own bandroom on Old Road in Tintwistle, and perform a variety of concerts all year round.
