East Riding of Yorkshire is enjoying one of the best years of success following its Cheltenham appearance.

Following the success at the North of England Regional Championships in March and a good showing at the recent National Finals in Cheltenham, the East Riding of Yorkshire Band is now celebrating being the top ranked Third Section band in the North East Area.

The band has done it by enjoying a successful 2013 contesting season, which culminated in their fine performance at Cheltenham under the baton of MD Ian Scott.

Spokesperson John Butt told 4BR: "It has been a great year for the band as our results have shown.

We would also like to thank Tewkesbury Town Band for the use of their facilities for our rehearsal prior to our Cheltenham appearance – it was greatly appreciated."
