Doctor helps in William Davis player reconstruction

Dr Keith Wilkinson helps reconstruct former players of William Davis for the Bolsover Re-union contest.

William Davis reunion

For the second time in two years, former members of the William Davis Construction Group Band have reconvened to perform at the Bolsover Festival of Brass Reunion Contest this coming Saturday 5th October.

Jetted in

Former MD Dr. Keith Wilkinson has jetted in once again from his home in the United States to direct the band in what promises to be a great evening of entertainment, featuring a quartet of bands re-formed especially for the occasion taking part.

Every two years

Chris Thomas, a former bass trombonist with the band and the co-ordinator of the 2013 William Davis reunion told 4BR:

"We had a terrific time when the band reunited to play at Bolsover two years ago, which was the first time we had played together in around fifteen years."

He added: "We decided at the time that we would like to make it a bi-annual event and with the driving force of Carole Crompton having made the reunion contest a huge success since its inception in 2011, we were determined that we should play again 2013.

It’s just terrific that Keith has joined us again and we’ll be playing an entertaining programme featuring several of his own arrangements and with more than a hint of nostalgia for many of the former band members!"

We were second in 2011 so this time we are on a mission to go one better and recreate our former glory days in the 1980’s and 1990’s!Chris Thomas

Fortunate

He concluded: "We are very fortunate in that many of our former players are still playing to a very high standard in bands such as Jaguar Land Rover, Derwent Brass and Desford, although with no names mentioned, our bass trombone player was blowing a few cobwebs off his instrument ahead of our first rehearsal on Sunday!

We were second in 2011 so this time we are on a mission to go one better and recreate our former glory days in the 1980’s and 1990’s!"

Contest details

The contest will take place at the Kissing Gate Leisure Centre, Shirebrook, Notts. at 7.00pm this coming Saturday with tickets available on the door.
