Report & Results: 2013 LBBA Autumn Festival

There were a host of superb solo, duets and quartets on show at the recent Leicestershire BBA Autumn Festival.

LBBA

The Leicestershire Brass Band Association Summer Solo Contest was held at Groby Community College recently, where a great turn out of contenders took part in the series of slow melodies, duets, quartets and air varies.

Judges

Adjudicators Sharon Stansfield, Steve Pritchard-Jones and Graham Sutton listened carefully to each of the 16 sections to award the trophies and medals to winning performers from association member bands in the area.

At each event an overall Junior Champion is awarded the ‘Harry Bray Memorial Trophy’. This year it went to Bb and Soprano cornet player Richard Bates from Gresley Colliery Band.

Congratulations

A spokesperson told 4BR: "The association would like to congratulate Richard and all of the winners, and particularly those young players in the under 10’s section who received a medal for taking part in their first contest in line with the wishes of association president and banding stalwart Betty Anderson."
