A new radio programme from New Zealand has just hit the airwaves, presented by renowned trombone soloist and conductor David Bremner.

Brilliant Brass

Hosted by New Zealand’s premier classical radio station (Radio Concert) ‘Brilliant Brass’ has already caused a stir down under and can now be accessed in the northern hemisphere too with its mix of brass bands, jazz, orchestral and solo features.

The second programme is set to be aired on Sunday the 22nd of September, and will see contribution from the great James Morrison, music by New Zealand composer Kenneth Young and Black Dyke.

Marsalis

The first programme which featured Wynton Marsalis, German Brass and Philip Wilby can be listened to again at: http://www.radionz.co.nz/concert/programmes/brilliant-brass

It becomes a case of not 'what to put in' rather 'what to leave out!' but it’s been a hugely enjoyable exercise putting these programmes togetherDavid Bremner

Exciting

David (pictured above with his father) told 4BR: "I grew up listening to ‘The Band Programme’ with John Harrison on Sunday afternoons, so the opportunity to showcase the best of brass from around the world is incredibly exciting.

It becomes a case of not 'what to put in' rather 'what to leave out!' but it’s been a hugely enjoyable exercise putting these programmes together."

Foundation launch

David has also taken time to launch a New Zealand based foundation that is going to raise money for brass education in the country.
