The Cornwall Youth Brass Band is fast turning into a family affair this year, with no less than 16 pairs of siblings, as well as a trio of sisters and brothers among its new intake of 86 member musicians.
New players
19 new players have joined the band following their successful auditions and quickly settled into their various positions at the first monthly rehearsal held recently at Truro College.
They were led by guest conductor Richard Evans and guest soloist, tenor horn star Owen Farr, both of who are making a return to the band following their successful visit in 2010 to feature in this year’s Christmas Course.

Easter course
The 2014 Easter Course also brings a return visit from Ian Porthouse, who has recently led Tredegar to their victory at the British Open.
With its team of local tutors, lead by conductors, Alan Pope, Aaron Harvey and Jeremy Willcock, the band is looking forward to another successful season, with the added bonus of two scheduled concerts in the prestigious Hall for Cornwall in Truro early next year.
