4BR has been informed that the forthcoming Bolsover Festival of Brass has broken all previous entry records.

Charity entertainment

The 2013 event takes place on the weekend of 5th/6th October and will once more include the popular Charity Entertainment Contest, featuring a number of ‘Re-union’ Bands.

This year William Davis Re-union, Thoresby Re-union, Jones & Crossland/Hyundai- Heart of England Building Society Re-union will take on current title holder Sir Richard Arkwright’s Masson Mills Brass in what promises to be yet another highly enjoyable event.

The wonderful charities that will benefit from funds raised will be Breast Cancer Research and Prostate Cancer Research.

Takes place

It all takes place at Shirebrook Leisure Centre, Park Rd, Shirebrook on Saturday 5th October and will commence at 7.00pm. The adjudicators are David Read (OBE) and David Horsfield.

Tickets are available from Shirebrook Leisure Centre on 01623 748313 or Bolsover District Council on 01246 242424 at £5 and £4 for concessions.

Festival of Brass

Meanwhile, the main Bolsover Festival of Brass contests will take place on Sunday 6th October at Heritage at Heritage High School, Boughton Lane, Clowne.

Record entry

Already a record 43 bands will be performing (up 6 on 2012) and the ‘Full House’ signs are up for entries for the Championship and First Sections, although there is still just enough room to squeeze a couple more bands in the Second, Third and Fourth Section events.
