4BR has been informed that the forthcoming Bolsover Festival of Brass has broken all previous entry records.
Charity entertainment
The 2013 event takes place on the weekend of 5th/6th October and will once more include the popular Charity Entertainment Contest, featuring a number of ‘Re-union’ Bands.
This year William Davis Re-union, Thoresby Re-union, Jones & Crossland/Hyundai- Heart of England Building Society Re-union will take on current title holder Sir Richard Arkwright’s Masson Mills Brass in what promises to be yet another highly enjoyable event.
The wonderful charities that will benefit from funds raised will be Breast Cancer Research and Prostate Cancer Research.
Takes place
It all takes place at Shirebrook Leisure Centre, Park Rd, Shirebrook on Saturday 5th October and will commence at 7.00pm. The adjudicators are David Read (OBE) and David Horsfield.

Festival of Brass
Meanwhile, the main Bolsover Festival of Brass contests will take place on Sunday 6th October at Heritage at Heritage High School, Boughton Lane, Clowne.
The action will kick off at 9.30am due to the high number of entries. The day’s adjudicators are David Read (OBE), Dr. Keith Wilkinson and David Horsfield.
Record entry
Already a record 43 bands will be performing (up 6 on 2012) and the ‘Full House’ signs are up for entries for the Championship and First Sections, although there is still just enough room to squeeze a couple more bands in the Second, Third and Fourth Section events.

Closing date
The closing date is 1st September and thee contests pre-draw will be issued shortly after the closing date.
There is a very strong field of 10 bands in the Championship Section and 13 bands in the First Section which in itself is a record entry for the contest.
Tickets for this event are available on the door at £5 and £4 concessions.
