The 14th Exmouth Brass Band Festival which takes place on Saturday 7th September has once again attracted competing bands from Cornwall, Devon and Somerset to take part in the popular event.
Descend
Promoted and organised by the South West Brass Band Association, around 500 bandsmen and women will descend on Exmouth Pavilion to deliver their 25 minute entertainment programmes in a bid to claim the Exmouth Town Council Challenge Trophy.
The adjudicator will be Major Paul Norley, Director of Music, The Band of the Brigade of Gurkhas.
Throughout the day, the competing bands will also have time to relax and perform for the public by giving 30-minute concerts in the adjacent Pavilion Gardens.
Enjoyed
Secretary Brian Elliott told 4BR: "This is a day to be enjoyed by all — bands and public alike, and an opportunity for our bands to demonstrate the best in brass banding here in the South West."
The day’s events commence at 11.00am, concluding with the results and presentation ceremony at around 6.30pm when Bruce Taylor of Taylors Business Development & Marketing, will present the trophies to the winning bands.
Brian Elliott added: "The Association is greatly indebted to Taylors Business Development & Marketing for their generous support of the Festival, and to Leisure East Devon and management of the Pavilion for their logistical assistance in promoting the event."
Tickets to the Entertainment Contest are priced at £6 (concessions £5) available on the day.
