Established in 1853 the British Open is the oldest brass band championship in the world.
This year 17 of the UKs top bands will be playing ‘Arabian Nights’, a reworking of Rimsky-Korsakov's Scheherazade by Stephen Roberts. Frank Renton has all the conversation and music from Symphony Hall Birmingham, including part of the winning performance.
18th September:
Frank Renton at the British Open Gala Concert with the Radio 2 Young Brass Award winner Josiah Walters, Cory, Foden's and Black Dyke.
25th September:
Frank Renton presents music by the massed bands of Black Dyke, Cory and Foden's played at the British Open Gala Concert in Symphony Hall Birmingham.
