The National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain has confirmed the exciting musical content for its forthcoming concerts in Darlington on 9th August and Harrogate on 10th August.
Soloist
Led by Bramwell Tovey, the 80-strong band will be joined by guest soloist Sheona White.
NYBBGB Administrator Philip Biggs, told 4BR: "Everyone is looking forward to performing in the two concerts. The band is made up of some of the best young brass and percussion players from across the country, and should not be missed."
Concerts
The concerts (both starting at 7.30pm) will feature a range of original music, as well as a number of arrangements and transcriptions, and will include Lucy Pankhurst's ‘Wired’ and Paul Hindmarsh's arrangement of Britten's ‘Fanfare for David Webster’.
Sheona White will perform Derek Bourgeois's ‘Concerto for Tenor Horn’ and Eric Leidzen's ‘The Old Rustic Bridge’.
Old and new
Other featured works will include Canadian composer's, Kelly-Marie Murphy's ‘Hartford Accident and Indemnity’, George Lloyd's ‘Diversions on a Bass Theme’, Eric Ball's ‘Songs of the Morning’, and two orchestral overture transcriptions in Wagner's ‘Die Meistersingers’ and Verdi's ‘Force of Destiny’.
The two concerts conclude a week-long residential training course held at Giggleswick School in Settle, during which time the youngsters will be coached and tutored by some of the UK’s leading brass and percussion players.

Open Day
As reported on 4BR, on Thursday 6th August, the band will also be hosting a free of charge Open Day, featuring a masterclass, an open rehearsal, the annual solo competition and a question and answer session with Bramwell Tovey at Giggleswick School between 10.00am and 4.00pm.
