According to producer John Moulson, there has been a great deal of positive feedback about the recent Sky 1 documentary ‘Greatest Little Britons – Brassed Off’, which featured four bands in the run up to the 2012 Yorkshire Area Championships in Bradford.
Yorkshire Area
Shown this week, the fourth programme in the six part series followed City of Bradford, Horbury Victoria, Dinnington Colliery and Grimethorpe Colliery as they prepared for their appearances at St George’s Hall.
Positive
Speaking to 4BR, John said that media reviews have been positive for the series as a whole.
"We have been very pleased with the reviews so far – and in particular with the brass band programme.
We wanted to show the passion and the drive for perfection, the dedication and commitment – all aimed at an audience who may not have known too much about brass band contesting."
It was a delight to work with so many friendly, genuine people, and we really appreciated the help and assistance we got from everyone involvedProducer, John Moulson
People involved
John added that he felt the secret of the programme’s success was very much down to the people involved.
"It was a delight to work with so many friendly, genuine people, and we really appreciated the help and assistance we got from everyone involved.
There was a real cross generational appeal about the programme and that was certainly down to the bands."
Enjoyed
He concluded: "I hope the brass band community enjoyed it too. It’s always hard to find the right line with these things, but we met so many good people making it, and I hope that came over."
