Report & Results: 2013 New Zealand National Championship — Street March

Woolston Brass makes it five in a row as they march to victory in New Plymouth.

Woolston Brass laid down its musical intentions at the National Championships in New Plymouth yesterday, by winning the New Zealand Army Band Trophy to become 2013 A Grade Street March champions.

Entertainment

27 bands took to the damp streets to provide wonderful entertainment for the judges as well as a fine crowd, with Woolston claiming victory and fifth consecutive street march title ahead of rivals Brass Wanganui, with Leopard Coachlines Canterbury Brass in third.

Drum Major Champion

In the B Grade, there was victory for local favourites The Devon Hotel New Plymouth, who claimed the Woolworths Challenge Trophy, whilst their Drum Major Amanda Bollond took the prestigious Tony Cowan Cup as Champion Drum Major.

The C Grade title was won by Feilding Brass, with Masterton District Band and Nelson Youth Brass claiming the D Grade and Youth honours.
