It has been reported in the international music press throughout the world that Bramwell Tovey has been appointed as an Officer of the Order of Canada in recognition of, ‘his achievements as a conductor and composer, and for his commitment to promoting new Canadian music,’ according to the Governor General of Canada’s website.

Appointments
The award-winning, internationally renowned musician, who is currently Music Director of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra as well as of the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain, was among 74 appointments announced by Gov. Gen. David Johnston.
Other recipients included musician Robert Silverman and poet Frederick James Wah.
Lived and worked
Tovey has lived and worked in the country since 1989 and has also worked extensively with many of the world’s leading orchestral ensembles, including the Los Angeles Philharmonic and most recently the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.
