MA Music student Simon Oliver will this year be given the opportunity to write for the important University of Salford Graduation Ceremonies which are to be held at the Lowry Centre on Salford Quays.
Entertainment show
The Graduation Band is an extended student brass 10-piece with vocalist, led this year by Brett Baker. A commissioned 30 minute entertainment show is performed before each of the ceremonies to a combined audience of 24,000 over four celebratory days.
Simon takes over from Dr Richard Rock who has written for the event for the last five years and has since become Arranger in Residence with the Fairey Band.
I'm sure Simon will do a great job. This is an ideal opportunity to compile an entertaining programme and will stand him in good stead for any future projectsDr Robin Dewhurst
Responsibility
Dr Robin Dewhurst told 4BR: "Scoring for the Salford Graduation shows is quite a responsibility given the large numbers attending.
I'm sure Simon will do a great job. This is an ideal opportunity to compile an entertaining programme and will stand him in good stead for any future projects."
