It has been announced by the organisers of the 2013 Dutch National Championships, that George Lloyd’s ‘Diversions on a Bass Theme’ will be used as the First Division test piece at the event in Groningen later this year.
Top section
Edward Gregson’s, ‘Of Distant Memories’, which is to used as the test piece at the UK National Finals at the Royal Albert Hall in October will be the set work in the Championship Section.
New works
A new work from the pen of Black Dyke horn player Jonathan Bates, entitled ‘Out of Storm Clouds’ will be used in the Second Division, with a new commission from the highly respected Swiss composer Oliver Waespi called, ‘The Graces of Love’ in the Third Division.
‘Overture to Youth’ by Eric Hughes will test the bands in the Fourth Division.
Judges
Luuk Tuinstra, Danny Oosterman and Jan de Haan will adjudicate the Championship and First Sections, with Ivan Meylemans, Dr Robert Childs and Durk Lautenbach taking responsibility for the remaining events.
The 33rd Dutch National Championships take place on the weekend of December 6th/7th at the Martiniplaza in Groningen.
