The Scottish Brass Band Association has launched its latest initiative to help to promote brass banding in the Highlands of the country.
Repertoire Day
Masterminded by Mark Bell, the ‘Brass Band Repertoire Day’ will take place on Saturday 22nd June between 10.00am – 3.00pm at Culloden Academy in Inverness.
The event will be led by Glenn Munro, MD of Moray Concert Brass, and is designed to welcome brass and percussion players from across the Highlands for a day of brass band music making.
Brass and Percussion
Players brass band instruments and standard percussion at Grade 5 level or above are invited to participate and the organisers are also happy to make special arrangements for any bass clef readers who wish to get involved.
It is hoped that the innovative event will encourage players to come together and generate enthusiasm from the run-throughs with a view to forming a new Highland brass band based in Inverness.
Wonderful opportunity
Andrew Duncan, Development Manager for SBBA told 4BR: "This is a wonderful initiative which has such huge potential to create a much needed new band in the Highland capital.
Mark’s enthusiasm and innovative approach to generate an interest from players who have no access to a local brass band at present is to be commended. He’s combining a fun day with the real prospect of creating a new band in Inverness.
By involving as many players as possible from across the Highlands he’s opening up a new opportunity for brass enthusiasts of all ages. The event is sure to be a great success and we look forward to its outcome."
