Gateway to a great future for Skipton

Skipton Brass will be investing time, energy and talent into producing future generations of players.

Skipton Brass

Skipton Brass has announced the launch of their new Development Band, Gateway Brass.

Proud tradition

A spokesperson told 4BR: "Now that we are firmly re-established as a regularly contesting 4th Section band, we felt the time had come to secure our future and ensure that the proud tradition of brass banding in Skipton and Craven can continue for many years to come."

The aim of Gateway Brass will be to educate those who wish to play brass music — from new beginners upwards.

Leaders

The band will hopefully develop new talent for the senior Skipton Brass, and will be led by band member Wilbur Paley, with the assistance of Skipton Brass MD Adrian Lowes and other regular senior players.

The spokesperson continued: "We have built up a pool of instruments in readiness and Gateway Brass will meet on Monday evenings where members will be provided with tuition, as well as playing together as a group."

First meeting

The first meeting of Gateway Brass will be at The Common Room, Aireville School, Skipton between 6.00pm and 7.00pm on Monday 10th June.
