Foden's stars lead the way in tuition and in concert at the fabulous Bolsover Summer School this year.

The Bolsover Brass Summer School Band will be performing a number of concerts this year.

Trio of concerts

On Friday 26th July they can be heard at Hardwick Hall near Chesterfield, Derbyshire commencing at 2.00pm, whilst the following day, Saturday 27th July, they will be at Creswell Crags, also starting at 2.00pm.

The band’s final concert will be performed at Heritage High School, Boughton Lane, Clowne, Chesterfield, Derbyshire on Sunday 28th July commencing at 6.45pm.

The Heritage High School event will feature Mark Wilkinson, Glyn Williams and Helen Williams as guest soloists.

Tickets

Tickets for this event cost £3 and £2 concessions. Tickets are limited and it is therefore advised that you obtain them as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

Double Champions teach

The 2013 Summer School is being directed by Foden’s star players Mark Wilkinson and Glyn Williams helped by a host of tutors from the Double Champions.

Delegates will be able to gain invaluable tuition from Mark Wilkinson and David Hirst (cornets), Helen Williams (flugel & horns), Glyn Williams (euphoniums & baritones), John Barber (trombones), Stewart Baglin (tubas) and Mark Landon (percussion).

Composer

Paul Sharman, composer and cornet player from the International Staff Band will be attending on Sunday 28th July to give a talk on his new commission ‘Synergy’ and to attend the premiere performance.

Junior Brass & Percussion

Mark Bousie of Foden’s will also lead a one day course for Junior Brass & Percussion for players up to Grade 5, which will be on Thursday 25th July from 9.00am to 5.00pm at Heritage High School Clowne.

It is aimed to provide an ideal opportunity for young brass and percussion players to discover and explore all the best aspects about playing in a brass band. The day is intended to improve instrumental and ensemble skills.

Brass for Beginners

Mark will also be leading a ‘Brass for Beginners’ course on Friday 26th July.

Starting at 10.00am and going on to 2.45pm, it is aimed at providing a wonderful opportunity for aspiring young musicians aged 4 to 9 to be able to discover the joys of playing a brass instrument.

Sessions, delivered in the ‘Wider Opportunities’ teaching style, will enable young children to take their first steps in learning to play a brass instrument. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
