A brand new march contest will take place in Huddersfield later this year, thanks to the Friends of Beaumont Park.
Glory
The voluntary group has worked together with Kirklees Council to regenerate the fine local amenity and restore it to its former glory – one that started in 1880 when the Linthwaite Band played a short concert to celebrate the cutting of the first sod of park turf.
As part of the regeneration venture to make it a focal point of the community, a new brass band contest has been organised to celebrate its 125th anniversary on Sunday 8th September starting at 2.00pm.
Prize fund
The contest is open to all bands with a generous prize fund. The winners will take home £400, with £200 for the runner-up and £100 for third. Additional cash prizes are on offer for best placed Third and Fourth Section bands not in the prizes, best Youth/Junior band and deportment.
