The popular Morley March & Hymn Tune Contest looks set to attract an even greater number of bands this year.
Prize pot
The event will take place on Sunday 16th June starting at 1.00pm, where bands can battle it out for a share of the £1,600 prize pot, with the winners carrying away with them a cheque for £500.
The adjudicators this year are Steve Pritchard-Jones and Duncan Beckley and there is still just enough time to get your entry in as there are still a few places left up for grabs.
Great event
Contest Contoller Geoff Fowler told 4BR: "We are looking forward to another great event. The Morley & District Lions present the contest and any proceeds from the event are for the Lions Charities.
Whilst there are no formal rules it is expected that all bands enter into the spirit of the competition and field their regular band wherever possible."

Format
The format of the contest comprises a road march followed by three verses of a hymn tune and a contest march in the band arena at the side of the local Town Hall. It is open to all bands from Championship grade to Youth and the music selection is own choice.
In the event of inclement weather the contest will be held in the Alexander Hall in the Morley Town Hall, minus the marching element of course!
