The Shepherd Group Band recently opened its doors for its first 'Shepherd Group Play Day'.
Over 50 players
The event was open to beginners and youth band players, as well as any other brass players in the York area, resulting in over 50 brass and percussion musicians taking part and was organised by Craig Brown, conductor of the Shepherd Group Youth Band.
Worked hard
He told 4BR: "When we set up the Play Day, we never expected so many to sign up. It was a great day of making music and meeting new players.
The players and tutors worked very hard and the results were fantastic. The feedback has all been extremely positive and I am already onto organising the next one!"

Music
Participants worked throughout the day on all aspects of playing together in a band and how to perform as a soloist, all whilst focussing on four pieces of music.
Members of the Shepherd Group Band and Shepherd Group Concert Band were on hand tutoring, leading and playing alongside the participants, and all four Shepherd Group conductors were on hand offering their services to ensure the day was a success.
