The wonderful girls of Boobs & Brass have revealed yet more hidden musical talents thanks to their appearance on Sky television’s Ashley Banjo’s Secret Street Crew programme
The band can already boast a flute player, an accordionist, accomplished singers, composers, and arrangers, but now they have street dancers too.
Surprise performances
Bass trombonist Melanie Bones had watched the whole of the first series of the popular programme, where groups of people get together to learn choreographed dance moves for surprise performances for family and friends.
From dinner ladies and darts players to a squad of policemen, Ashley shows them all how learning to street dance can be a bit of a life changing experience.
Enthusiasm
Full of enthusiasm, Melanie suggested that a group of ‘Boobies’ should have a go at meeting the challenge, and much to her amazement, she received a positive response from the producers to take part.
Six band members, Jane Nichols, Suzy Dawson, Mairi Addy, Paula Nicholson and Maggie Betts agreed to join Mel for the challenge.
White lies
Maggie told 4BR: "We were given a date for our tuition with Ashley, and found that we had only three weeks to perfect our performance.
We were not allowed to disclose what we had committed ourselves to, so you cannot imagine what it was like having to watch every word you uttered in case you let something slip, let alone all the white lies that were told when we had to meet daily in various parts of the country to be taught by our mentors!"

Success
The success of their commitment and fabulous endeavours was shown on Ashley Banjo`s Secret Street Crew last weekend and repeated on Sky a few days later.
Maggie added: "All we have to say is that the next time Melanie has a `great idea` is that somebody strangle her please! It was though an absolutely fantastic experience – but definitely not for the faint hearted!"
