Norwegian trumpet star set for Chethams

Tine Thing Helseth set to visit Chetham's School of Music

Tine Thing Helseth

International Norwegian trumpet star, Tine Thing Helseth, will be visiting Manchester’s prestigious Chetham’s School of Music next week to perform a recital and give a number of masterclasses.

And 4BR will be meeting up with the remarkable 24 year old, who is already one of the leading trumpet soloists of her generation.

Career

Her career has already seen her perform as concerto soloist with orchestras all over the world, including the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, BBC Scottish Symphony, Australian Chamber Orchestra, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte Carlo, Stuttgart Philharmonic Orchestra, NDR Hamburg, and Hong Kong Sinfonietta.

Future debut dates this season include performances with the Orchestre de Lyon, as well as the Munich Symphony Orchestra and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.

European Tour

Her Manchester visit is part of her European tour with the renowned British pianist Kathryn Stott, culminating in her debut at London’s Wigmore Hall.

In celebration of the 150th anniversary of the birth of fellow Norwegian Edvard Munch, Tine is also curating Tine@Munch, a three day festival in the Edvard Munch Museum in Oslo in June 2013.

Tine’s much anticipated Chetham’s recital will feature works by Sibelius, Ravel and Kurt Weill.

Superstar

David Chatterton, head of brass and percussion at Chetham’s told 4BR: "We are delighted to be able to host one of the brass world’s current superstars.

All of our students are looking forward to the recital and in particular the classes where some of our own young stars will get the chance to work directly alongside Tine."
