New identity for Thoresby Youth

The former Thoresby Youth Band has been renamed Sherwood Forest Brass after they settle into their new home and grow lots of little acorns for the future.

With the recent closure of the Thoresby Welfare Social Club where both senior and junior bands of the Thoresby Band organisation used facilities, their former youth band arm has now settled in nicely to their new home at Clipstone Welfare.

Hard work

Through the hard work of numerous supporters they have now become a much more inclusive community band too, and as a result have changed their name to Sherwood Forest Brass.

With successful hard work done in local schools to attract children to the band, it has led to the creation of a beginners group called ‘The Little Acorns’ with children as young as seven enjoying free brass tuition.

Sherwood Forest Brass will continue to encourage youngsters to take up a brass instrument in a safe and friendly environment with a strong structure in place for free tuition, fund raising and performanceBand

Encourage

A spokesperson told 4BR: "Sherwood Forest Brass will continue to encourage youngsters to take up a brass instrument in a safe and friendly environment with a strong structure in place for free tuition, fund raising and performance."
