Audition opportunities open for National Youth Bands

A special Open Day opportunity has arisen for a new generation of youngsters wishing to become part of the National Youth Bands of Great Britain.

National Youth
 

The National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain is to hold an Open Day in Taunton in April with the opportunity for talented players to audition directly for it two ensembles.

Encouraged

Brass and percussion players aged from 8 to 18 are being encouraged to come along to see the current 80 strong band in action on Tuesday 2nd April, listen to a masterclass and the annual solo competition, as well participate in a question and answer session with Artistic Director, Bramwell Tovey.

The youngsters will also have the opportunity to audition if they wish, for either the National Youth, or the National Children’s Band.

Open Day Co-ordinator, Martin Armstrong told 4BR: "We are looking attract and inspire talented youngsters to attend. Previous Open Days have been extremely successful, and we expect this one to be no different."

Courses

The National Youth Band is holding its Easter course at Taunton School, Somerset between the 30th March & 6th April this year with its Summer course at Giggleswick School, North Yorkshire, between the 3rd & 10th August.

The National Children’s Band will be holding its annual course at Repton School between the 22nd a& 27th July.

A second Open Day will be held during the NYBBGB’s summer residential course.

The NYBBGB Open Day will be between 10am and 4pm.
