The death has been reported of Geoff Swan.

He and his family moved to Polzeath in 1991 with Geoff commencing his Cornish banding career at St Breward.

Life long bandsman

Geoff had been a bandsman all his life, starting when he was about ten years old, with the Fairfield (Buxton) Band. He played at some time or another with all the local bands in the Buxton area. Geoff was not only an excellent euphonium player but also a very modest man, who once committed, would never let anyone down.

Geoff soon became known as a player of some standing in a very short time of his arrival in Cornwall and he soon found himself helping other bands in the locality.

He will be sadly missed, not only as a bandsman, but by the many friends he and his family have made over the last twenty years or soTony Burton

Sadly missed

Great friend Tony Burton told 4BR: "He will be sadly missed, not only as a bandsman, but by the many friends he and his family have made over the last twenty years or so.

My heart goes out to his family, Sheila, Julie and Peter. In Geoff we have lost not only a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and friend, but a dedicated Bandsman who will leave a void that can never be filled."
