Dobcross set for Area Preview night

If you want to get an early taster of what is in store for Blackpool in March, then get along to Dobcross Band Club.

Winter Gardens
 

Dobcross Silver Band will once again be holding an ‘Area Preview Night’ to enable players, conductors and brass band lovers to get to hear the Championship, Second, Third and Fourth Section test pieces to be played at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool on March 13th.

Time and date

The event takes place on Thursday 7th March at Dobcross Band and Social club, Platt Lane, Dobcross, Saddleworth, OL3 5AD starting at 8.00pm.

Bands

After the success of last year’s event, organizer Kenny Pain has managed to secure the services of Dobcross Youth conducted by John Parkes and Greenfield Band conducted by Tom Haslam to perform the Fourth Section set work, ‘Devon Fantasy’ by Eric Ball.

They will be followed by Third Section representatives, Eccles Borough playing ‘Hollywood’ by Goff Richards and Second Section contenders Dobcross Silver, under Kenny’s baton, playing, ‘The Plantagenets’ by Edward Gregson.

The adjudicator for the evening, who will be casting his thoughts over each band is the experienced and well respected Malcolm BrownbillOrganisers

Harmony round up

Kenny will then make a quick change and grab his soprano to join Milnrow Band as they round the evening off under the direction of Marika Grey, on Philip Sparke’s ‘Harmony Music’.

The adjudicator for the evening, who will be casting his thoughts over each band is the experienced and well respected Malcolm Brownbill.
