RASWA link up with Robert Childs

Dr. Robert Childs returns to Perth to conduct Royal Agricultural Society (RASWA) Brass at the 2013 Australian Nationals.

Robert Childs

As revealed in an interview at the recent Norwegian National Championships in Bergen, Dr. Robert Childs will return to Australia later this year to conduct Royal Agricultural Society (RASWA) Brass at the 2013 National Championship in Perth.

Impression

Both Robert and David Childs left an indelible impression on the band's members when they visited the west coast of Australia late last year, and they are delighted that the former Cory MD and current Black Dyke Associate Director of Music will return and direct them at the event which will be held in their home city.

Amazing

Dr. Alan Lourens, MD of RASWA Brass told 4BR: "It’s an amazing opportunity. Holding the National Championships in Perth will bring some of Australia’s most talented musicians here.

Having an icon of the world band movement in Robert Childs to direct a Western Australian group makes the event even more special."

Unique event

RASWA Brass president Stu Bennion believes this is a unique event in the Australian band movement.

"Never before has a current conductor of the Black Dyke Band conducted at the Australian National Band Championships. To be able to attract him to Western Australia and RASWA Brass places great faith in our band. We are so excited to have him leading us."

Championship dates

The Yamaha Australian Band Championships will be held at the University of Western Australia in Winthrop Hall and the Octagon Theatre from Friday, March 29th to Monday, April 1st.
