The National Youth Brass Band of Scotland (NYBBS) has announced the dates and venues for auditions for young players hoping to join the organisation in 2013.

Auditions

Auditions are by application and are open to all brass and percussion players aged 16 – 22 (or in the case of exceptionally talented young players, from age 13 upwards).

Current members of the National Youth Brass Band of Scotland will not be required to take a joining audition, and similarly, membership of both the National Children’s Brass Band of Scotland and the National Youth Reserve Brass Band of Scotland will continue to be open enrolment to those meeting the membership criteria.

Sessions

The audition sessions will take place in the Borders, Midlothian, Aberdeen, Angus, Glasgow, West Lothian, Dumfries, Ayrshire and Fife, between 16th March and 7th April.

Jewel in the crown

A spokesperson told 4BR: "NYBBS and its parent body, the Scottish Brass Band of Scotland, would like to offer their sincere thanks and gratitude to all the bands that have so generously offered their facilities for these audition rounds."

They added: "If anyone wishes to be considered as a new member of this ‘jewel in the crown’, please complete and return the application form as soon as possible.

The schedule of dates and venues, along with the application form will be downloadable from the ‘How to Join’ section of the NYBBS website ( www.nybbs.co.uk) or from the SBBA website ( www.sbba.org.uk) by following the NYBBS news item link."
