Delighted

Commenting on the appointment, Mark said: "I’m delighted to be taking up the challenge of directing such a fine band."

He added: "My appointment means that I will be relinquishing my position with Pemberton Old Wigan DW – a partnership which has lasted four and a half years. I wish the band well in the future and thank them for all of their hard work and dedication. They’ve never been anything less than a joy to conduct!"

Conducting career

The former horn player with Leyland and Brighouse & Rastrick began his conducting career with the Drighlington Junior band whilst playing horn with Black Dyke.

Since retiring from playing he has enjoyed successful conducting spells with the Drighlington, Reg Vardy, Hepworth and most recently Pemberton.
