Brindle takes baton at Rainford

Former Black Dyke baritone star takes over the conducting role at Rainford.

The Rainford Band has announced that Gareth Brindle has been appointed as its new Musical Director.

Success

The former Black Dyke baritone star Gareth initially joined the band as Associate Musical Director in late 2100 but now takes over the baton from Neil Samuel.

After hugely successful spells as a player with BT, Williams Fairey and then Black Dyke, he turned his attention to conducting, and will now lead the band in the Championship Section at the North West Area contest in Blackpool.

Enjoyed

Gareth told 4BR: "Since I retired from playing, I’ve enjoyed taking a less intense and time consuming role whilst still keeping my interest in brass bands. Despite a number of playing requests I have really enjoyed working with Rainford over the last year and so this is the next step I want to take."

Talented

He added: "They are a talented group of musicians and an exceptionally friendly and enthusiastic group of people. I’m really looking forward to the challenge of Championship Section contesting and to producing some fantastic concerts together."

Rainford Band chairman Paul Rigby added: "We are delighted that Gareth has accepted the invitation to become our Musical Director. He has superb musical credentials and we look forward to working with him in the future."
